Fantasy Football Update: The Decline of Terrell Owens

Hey, Terrell Owens, read about Karma, much?
All of the Buffalo Bills offensive (and defensive) problems can’t lead back to the signing of Terrell Owens. However, a smart person, both with an NFL mind and a fantasy conscience, had to see this coming.
I know there was still that old T.O. upside: “Get yo popcorn ready”, and all that jazz.
But this was written in stone, wasn’t it?
Trent Edwards didn’t show us anything to really lean on last year, and after a very unproductive and under-whelming pre-season, we should have known better. Read more…

Brett Favre Does It Again, Vikes Go To 6-0

This old guy is fired up. You could swear it was 1996 up in this joint. And by “joint,” I mean 2009, the Mall of America Stadium, and this awesome Minnesota Vikings offense.
And by 1996, I mean this team looks better than Favre’s only Super Bowl winner. Oh, and as if it hasn’t been beaten to death already, the dude is old.
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but Brett Favre is awesome. Read more…

Hate Mark Sanchez, But Don’t Bench Him
I vouched for this kid. And regardless of many other experts opinions, he made me look like a genius, while leading the surprise New York Jets to a 3-0 start.
But I never said this was a Cinderella story. I said this was a playoff team, but I never alluded to the dream that he was a playoff-caliber quarterback.
He’s a rookie, folks. This is what rookies do. Read more…

NFL Trade Possibilities: Who Needs To Go
There is a lot of speculation surrounding several bottom-of-the-barrel teams, and for good reason.
The Buffalo Bills are reportedly at least discussing trading Terrell Owens, their one-year free agent splash, while the Browns have had to fight-off rumors about parting ways with former franchise quarterback Brady Quinn, and star return man, Josh Cribbs.
There are nine teams that currently only have one win in 2009, or are still searching for their win. Read more…

Jets’ Danny Woodhead Finally Getting His Chance?

No, you read it right. The little 5′8” running back from Chadron State is getting his first real crack at the NFL. That’s right, folks. An active roster spot, actual playing time, and a shot at proving himself with the big boys.
Oh, but this time it will be at receiver.
Woodhead, who impressed in his final pre-season game with over 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns, was signed to the Jets practice squad early in September. Read more…

Favre Leads Vikings to Win, 5-0 Record
The arm should be falling off. The fingers, folding back.
His bones should be brittle and breaking down. His ligaments and cartilage, gone.
H’es 40-years old, and this is not how he should be playing.
The Vikings should be 3-2, at best, and Adrian Peterson should already have 600+ yards and close to 10 touchdowns. And if this season was going how so many Favre-bashers dreamt it would, Favre would be back at his home again, retired, after a miserable start. Read more…

NFL Power Rankings: Week Five

While few games lived-up to their hype, we were blessed with a classic game between the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots on Sunday, while getting the chance to watch history between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings on Monday.
Still, when it’s all said and done, there are five teams who are undefeated after four games, and all of those teams have taken different journeys.
Read on to see who makes the top five, and then check to see where everyone else fits in: Read more…

Brett Favre Adds to Legend as Vikings Beat Packers, 30-23

This was the first of two, and if we’re lucky, there could be more.
True, Brett Favre turns 40 in a week, the very number that analysts and experts are afraid to say, weary of an old man’s bone breaking mid-sentence, but at the same time can’t help but blurt out with laughter.
That Favre is an old dude, and he can still sling it.

Fantasy Football Week 3 Review: Counting the Ways You Got Screwed
Get yo popcorn ready.
More like get your suicide letter ready. While losing yet again in fantasy football may not actually drive you to end it all, the gut-wrenching feeling of watching your “top dogs” blow chunks certainly can bring the thought to mind.
Terrell Owens was just one of the many stars who came up way too short in week three, sending your once prominent starting line-up into a downward spiral of malcontent and evil-thinking. Read more…
